Diamond-encrusted 'bling' jewellery which belonged to rappers Missy Elliott, Notorious BIG and Tupac Shakur is being sold in what is billed as the first auction of hip-hop jewellery. The 70 items of hip hop treasures on sale are expected to raise around $3m (£1.6m), some of which will be donated to the the Hip-Hop Summit Action Network.

The Church of England is to apologise to Charles Darwin for its initial rejection of his theories, nearly 150 years after he published his most famous work.
Sections of Church likely to be dismayed by Darwin move
The Church of England will concede in a statement that it was over-defensive and over-emotional in dismissing Darwin's ideas. It will call "anti-evolutionary fervour" an "indictment" on the Church".
The bold move is certain to dismay sections of the Church that believe in creationism and regard Darwin's views as directly opposed to traditional Christian teaching.
The apology, which has been written by the Rev Dr Malcolm Brown, the Church's director of mission and public affairs, says that Christians, in their response to Darwin's theory of natural selection, repeated the mistakes they made in doubting Galileo's astronomy in the 17th century.
"The statement will read: Charles Darwin: 200 years from your birth, the Church of England owes you an apology for misunderstanding you and, by getting our first reaction wrong, encouraging others to misunderstand you still. We try to practise the old virtues of 'faith seeking understanding' and hope that makes some amends."
Opposition to evolutionary theories is still "a litmus test of faithfulness" for some Christian movements, the Church will admit. It will say that such attitudes owe much to a fear of perceived threats to Christianity.
The comments are included on a Church of England website promoting the views of Charles Darwin to be launched on Monday.

These range from divorce and financial disputes to domestic violence. But furious Tories said the step “pandered to Islamic extremists”. MP Philip Davies said: “There can be only one legal system — British law. This will lead to a segregated society.”
Powers of Sharia judges have been sanctioned at five courts in London, Birmingham, Bradford, Manchester and Nuneaton, Warwicks.

Cara Marie Burke with Mohamed D'Ali Carvalho dos Santos
The remains of Cara Marie Burke, 17, were found in the town of Bonfinopolis in central Brazil
They were located near to where her Brazilian boyfriend, Mohammed D'Ali dos Santos, 20, said he had thrown them in a bag, police chief Carlos Raimundo Batista said. (What a fucking stupid name surely that should have given the daft tart some kind of warning)
Cara's torso was discovered last Tuesday in her suitcase near a river in the nearby city of Goiania, where Santos and she had shared an apartment for a couple of months before their break-up a few weeks ago.
On Sunday an unemployed man found Cara's left leg in a creek in Bonfinopolis, leading police to the spot where the other remains were recovered.
Santos, according to police, has confessed to the crime, saying he fatally stabbed Cara on July 26 because she was going to reveal his cocaine habit to his family and to police.

Detectives also suspect he acted in anger because he was unable to get Cara to marry him in order to get him a visa to live in Britain. His mother lives in London, as does Cara's.
Santos allegedly cut up Cara's body the day after her murder and disposed of the remains in two different locations. An initial search for the limbs and head on Friday failed to turn up anything.
Police said that immediately after his arrest, Santos confessed to the murder and mutilation, and tried to offer a bribe to be let go.
Santos changed his story several times while speaking to the press, at one point saying he "did not exactly" kill Cara.
However, Brazilian police said Santos officially signed a confession on Friday and that they had retrieved the knife and gloves used in the crime.
Santos's mobile phone also allegedly contained photographs of Cara's dismembered body.

The Chinese government has told discos, karaoke bars and other entertainment venues to install windows in private rooms and ensure staff dress modestly in an effort to crack down on prostitution and drugs.
The Ministry of Public Security has decreed that entertainment venues must install transparent partitions between rooms that ensure "the whole environment of the consumer's entertainment area in the room can be seen".
Discos and karaoke bars in China frequently have private rooms for hire and are a favourite place for businessmen to entertain guests, sometimes with prostitutes.
Skimpy outfits were also officially discouraged. Staff members should "dress tastefully and not be too exposing".
And hey Presto Communist China is as virtuous as you like!!!! It is of course all complete BOLLOCKS!

BEIJING (Reuters) - Beijing has vowed the Olympic Games will take place under blue skies, not the murky "sauna" haze that has shrouded the city recently, but even on apparently clear days pollution levels may not be safe for athletes.
Officials lavished 120 billion yuan ($17.6 billion) on cleaning up the capital with factories dozens of miles away closed down, construction halted, and over half the city's 3.3 million cars cleared from the roads. (thise will cease imediatly the games have finished of course)
Still, even when Beijing says the air is clear, athletes and their coaches may have cause for concern.
Most Chinese air pollution standards are outside World Health Organization guidelines. Moreover, experts say that the pollution index China uses to tell ordinary citizens whether the air is safe -- a "blue sky" day -- is seriously flawed.
It only uses average measurements across the capital, so some spots could have dangerous levels even when overall readings say it is safe to venture out. And some hazardous pollutants are not included in the index, experts say.

Tim Hancock, UK campaigns director for Amnesty International says "The Chinese authorities have broken the promises they made when they were granted the Olympics seven years ago.
"They told the world that the Olympics would help bring human rights to China, but the government continues to persecute and punish those who speak out for human rights ahead of the Games.
"The Olympic values have been betrayed by the Chinese government. They must release all imprisoned peaceful activists, allow foreign and national journalists to report freely and make further progress towards the elimination of the death penalty - or risk permanently sullying the legacy of the Olympics."
The report focuses on four key areas: persecution of human rights activists, detention without trial, censorship and the death penalty.
It says most of these have deteriorated in the run up to the Olympics, which begin on August 8.
Amnesty claims several activists are being held in prison or under house arrest and monitored to ensure they do not disrupt the Games.
Mr Hancock added: "World leaders attending the Games - even if it's only the closing ceremony - should send an unequivocal message that they support human rights for the Chinese people.

Tens of millions of pounds of public money were squandered by Ken Livingstone's development agency, a report says today.
The investigation into the London Development Agency, ordered by Boris Johnson, outlines a string of failings including "ineptitude" and "massive misspending". The Forensic Audit Panel, headed by former financial journalist Patience Wheatcroft, was set up after revelations in the Standard about apparent financial irregularities at the LDA.
Today's report also raises the prospect of a similar investigation into Transport for London.
It calls for the LDA to be stripped of its role in the 2012 Olympics and for £8 million-of cuts across the Greater London Authority. Ms Wheatcroft said: "Our investigations have left us in no doubt that money has been misspent on a massive scale, say tens of millions.
"We're of the view that it was ineptitude rather than corruption that was the biggest blight on the LDA.
"The board failed to ensure the LDA worked effectively. Instead it seemed to have adopted the notion that in many ways the LDA was there to serve as the Mayor's chequebook and that chequebook has been used to write some rather interesting pay-offs to people who have left the LDA.
"It poured money into projects that failed to work out and failed to deliver.
"The LDA's efforts to tackle the problem [unemployment] have been hopelessly flawed and ultimate responsibility for this must lie with the board." She said the panel had been "very nervous" in looking at allegations of misspending by Mr Livingstone's former race and policy adviser Lee Jasper as they were being investigated by police.
Ms Wheatcroft also cited "unusual" spending when giving board member Yvonne Thompson her £17,000 salary for 15 months despite standing down.
Ms Thompson, who once accompanied Mr Jasper to New York on an LDA business trip, quit last year after allegations were made that the African Caribbean Business Network - of which she was president - received funding for projects which it did not deliver.
Another executive, Tony Winterbottom, got a year's sabbatical followed by a £75,000 pay-off and £160,000 into a pension fund and was then given another £20,000 job. The report also highlights:
• A £30,000 project to research London's weather trends in a bid to rival the Met Office.
• A £456,633 contract for street improvements which was not let competitively.
• A lack of checks on groups being awarded cash, with £36,900 given to the European Federation of Black Women Business Owners despite the company being dormant most of the time.
The panel also recommends that the delivery of the Olympics should be taken away from the LDA and the organisation completely reshaped.
Ms Wheatcroft said: "Part of the problem of the LDA was that it tried to do too much." Instead, Ms Wheatcroft suggests the LDA would act as a "strategic commissioner" working with the boroughs and the charity sector.
The LDA last year got a £740 million budget, mainly from City Hall, to promote London's economy.
Mr Livingstone, Manny Lewis, the former chief executive of the LDA and Mary Reilly, the former chairwoman of the board, all refused to appear before the audit panel. Led by Ms Wheatcroft, former editor of the Sunday Telegraph, the panel's members included two Conservative council leaders as well as the Mayor's business adviser. They were Stephen Greenhalgh, leader of Hammersmith & Fulham council, Edward Lister, leader of Wandsworth, Patrick Frederick, chief executive of Aimex International, and Andrew Gordon, head of investigations within the forensic services group of PricewaterhouseCoopers.
The report was rubbished by vicechair of the LDA and Labour member of the London Assembly John Biggs. He said: "This is just a bunch of Tory politicians who have seized the opportunity raised by the Lee Jasper affair to rubbish the good works of the LDA. As a board member I'm proud of the board's achievement and believe we've achieved a massive amount of good. The very nature of our work means we work among areas of likely market failure where you won't see a return."
Speaking at the Mayor's question time at City Hall, Mr Johnson also revealed that his predecessor had spent £17.4 million on mayoral consultants in his two terms and that TfL had spent £155 million on technical consultants in just one year. He gave the figures as "an example of excessive spending" under the last regime. Mr Johnson said: "There has been growing public concern about the LDA and that large sums of taxpayers' money are being wasted and therefore I thought it would be a good idea to commission a report. This is to make sure we run things better and make sure it never happens again."
