And I'm supposed to care that a a few Taliban were claiming to be tortured by a justice system of the nation they come from and are fighting against in a brutal insurgency.

I'll start caring when Osama bin Laden turns himself in and repents for incinerating all those innocent people on 9/11.

I'll care about the Koran when the fanatics in the Middle East start caring about the Holy Bible, the mere belief of which is a crime punishable by beheading in Afghanistan .

I'll care when these thugs tell the world they are sorry for hacking off Nick Berg's head while Berg screamed through his gurgling slashed throat.

I'll care when the cowardly so-called 'insurgents' in Afghanistan come out and fight like men instead of
disrespecting their own religion by hiding in mosques.

Jonathan Ross and Russell Brand are both well paid “entertainers” with reputations they need to enhance and to that end they will brook no obstruction to their endeavors, in their pursuit of self aggrandizement. Add to this the fact there are very strict rules on the conduct & language of “the general public” calling into chat shows, should they voice feelings that may offend others, should they be able to get past the bleep machine then you can be certain they will feel the strong arm of the law close around them very quickly indeed.

So the real question is HOW did this vile rant get broadcast in the first place? Brand and Ross should be made to issue prime time public apologies, then dismissed from their positions same day.

BUT we would like the person in charge of the program brought to book, and made to publicly explain why they thought this was acceptable broadcasting if they are unable to convince an independent jury they to should be got rid as well.

That might start to send out the message WE DON'T LIKE BULLY'S attacking genuine media Icon's and we don't want our license fee going to support them.

Documents Obtained under Freedom of Information laws, reports showed one boy aged six in Derby was taken from his home by social workers because he was dangerously obese.

Another boy in London, aged 12, was put into care with a Body Mass Index (BMI) of 28 - 60 per cent above the 17.5 average for his age.

In Cumbria, social services intervened when one girl aged only eight weighed over 9st and wore size 16 clothes.

Dr Colin Waine, former head of the National Obesity Forum, called for closer monitoring of children to avoid them being taken into care.

Recent figures suggest a third of 13-year-olds are obese or overweight, and that a million children in England will be obese within five years.

Earlier this month, Tam Fry, a member of the National Obesity Forum's board, told a conference that youngster over-fed by their parents should be treated as victims of abuse, as happens with malnourished children.

Mr Fry said: "It is drastic but it's a long-term therapy. For the sake of the children it does need to be done because we have got children who are horrendously fat."

The Government's efforts to tackle violent crime have been criticised by an influential group of MPs.

Government is guilty of poor distribution of funding, claim MPs

The Public Accounts Committee has accused the Home Office of being slow in ensuring all police forces and crime reduction partnerships have the support they need to reduce gun and knife crime.

The Committee said the Home Office was guilty of poor distribution of funding and described the increase in the number of 15 to 17-year-olds carrying knives between 1998 and 2006 as "worrying".

The report also claimed there were twice as many crimes involving firearms over the same period.

The MPs said funding for Crime Reduction Partnerships - which include police, local councils and residents' groups - was "often one-off and short-term".

They found nearly half of the partnerships did not have enough resources to analyse how much violent crime there was in their areas.

Committee chairman, Edward Leigh said the Home Office and the police needed to tackle the root causes of why youngsters carried knives.

He added: "They need to know a lot more about why youths join gangs and how they can be diverted from membership.

"This whole subject of violent crime is bedevilled by a continuing lack of reliable data on the effectiveness of interventions."

Sky News spoke to one street gang in Manchester, who described why they felt the need to carry weapons: "When you've got a tool in your pocket you feel safer, and more powerful than anyone out there... knives are the easiest thing to pick up.

"You can walk in your kitchen get your mum's big kitchen knife and just walk out. Who's going to know you've got it? You can just throw it away after."

Although overall crime has fallen in recent years, a spate of high-profile knife and gun related attacks has fuelled public concerns over violent crime.

The Home Secretary said the Government was committed to tackling serious and violent crime and action was already underway to address the Public Accounts Committee's concerns.

Courts across the country are owed more than £500m in unpaid fines!

The number of fines not being paid is rising every year

The latest figures, from the Ministry of Justice, show the amount is growing year on year as magistrates countinue to pile fines on top of fines.

In March 2006 the total owed to the courts was just over £474m - that figure rose to more than £486m in 2007 and, in March this year, increased again to just over £500m.

The figures, which are broken down area by area, show that some regions such as West Yorkshire and Leicestershire, are clawing back the monies they owe, but some are still falling further behind.

In London, for example, courts were owed little over £111m in March 2007 while in March 2008 they were owed more than £117m.

Nick Herbert, shadow justice secretary, said unless all fines are paid, there was no hope of recouping the massive amount of money owed.

He said: "If one in 20 fines goes unpaid, the Government has no hope of recouping the half a billion pounds of unpaid fines still outstanding.

"Thousands of offenders will get away unpunished." (Nothing new there)

The Ministry of Justice say the figures show the total debt owed and include fines which are being collected by installments as well as outstanding monies from previous months/years.

A spokesman for the Ministry of Justice said: "The Government takes the issue of fine enforcement very seriously and HM Courts Service is working to ensure clamping down on fine-dodgers is a continued priority nationwide. (As there are owed £500Million we can assume this is total bollocks)

"To ensure we tackle this issue the Government has introduced new enforcement sanctions in the Courts Act 2003, made it easier for people to pay fines and is encouraging the use of new technology such as text message reminders for those who go into default and the creation of teams pro actively chasing outstanding fines. (With £500 Million still owing they are clearly not up to the job)

"We are having success with reductions in the amount outstanding in a number of places across the country, including South Wales, Leicestershire and Devon and Cornwall.

"These improvements are the result of modern, efficient working practices and the implementation of the Courts Act 2003."

A spokesman for Victims Support, added: "An issue that runs alongside this and is perhaps of more importance to the victim is one of unpaid court orders.

"There is a problem when courts impose court orders on people when they are not paid, or paid in dribs and drabs and serve as nothing but an unwelcome reminder of the crime.

"Really, more suitable punishments than fines or court orders should be looked at."

On that point we agree 100%, The solution is SIMPLE build more prisons, This will certainly in the case of Circus Labour, who's gross mismanagement of the legal Justice Police and Prison system in the UK has resulted in them failing to even build those facility's required just to keep up with current demand. But what we need are special debt'ers prisons

Then place all those fined in them, once they have paid up they will get released, they will only be there for as long as it takes them to arrange for payment.

There simply is NO point in fining someone who cannot or will not pay, in such cases only a custodial sentance is the only suitable punishment.

ANY non UK citizens that come before the courts should be expelled at once to whence they came. There is absolutely no point in burdening the tax payer with people who come here and then fail to obey our laws, and none of this we cant send them back their lives may be in danger nonsense, they decided to reject our hospitality and mercy so off they go to what ever fate awaits them and good riddance we say.

'The public know that when oil prices go up, it is reflected very quickly in the pump price,' he said.

'What we want to know is that when oil prices come down, that is also reflected in the pump price.

Drug addicts are offered beauty treatment at £400,000 cost to taxpayer

The beauty treatments are being offered as an incentive for those dependent on drugs or alcohol to use the Evolve centre, in Blackburn, Lancs.

Yoga and Tai Chi classes are also available along with counselling and "life skills" training for those in need.

The scheme, launched while people are having to cut back on luxuries because of the economic downturn, has been branded a waste of money by the Taxpayers' Alliance.

It is housed in a former textile museum which was closed by the local council's ruling Labour group two years ago, despite protests, to save 323,000 pounds a year.

The Evolve centre, which does not provide medical treatment such as methadone, opened this week with 13 members of staff and aims to attract around 40 people a month.

It is funded by the Government through contributions from the Department for Work and Pensions and the local drug and alcohol reduction team.

Jerry Sutton, chief executive of voluntary agency Inward House, which is running Evolve, said: "If nobody comes through the door it's a waste of money. (No you are wrong it is a waste of money full stop)

Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council has the fourth highest number of problematic drug users per head of population in the north-west England and 25,000 "hazardous" drinkers. (then shut the pubs and off licenses until they can all behave themselves up there)

The 45-year-old was banned from working with food again at Wolverhampton Magistrates Court yesterday. (Like he will take any notice of that!)

District Judge Martin Brown said: "The facts in this case are extraordinarily serious, they are about as grave as one might get in such a case."
The catalogue of horrors at the Cannock Road business also included staff smoking and spitting on the floor; (This happen is all Asian run kitchens) a rodent infestation with a dead rat found under a pan in the kitchen; refrigerators running at more than 68F (20OC); mouldy food; and filthy conditions.
Singh, who lives in Prosser Street, Park Village, was banned from managing any food business in the future and ordered to pay £3,861 in fines and costs.

He was caught cooking next to the dead worker in August by a police officer investigating the employee's sudden death. The Pc was so disgusted, he immediately closed the premises.
Despite "extraordinarily serious" findings at Pappu Sweet Centre & Catering, Cannock Road, Wolverhampton, boss Jaswinder Singh told the city's magistrates court he should be get "one last chance".

Others were: intentionally obstructing environmental health officers, putting unsafe food on the market unfit for human consumption, failing to store high-risk food at correct temperature, three of failing to comply with hygiene improvement notices, two of contravening food hygiene regulations and two of contravention of provisions.
Singh got a Hygiene Prohibition Order, banning him from managing any food business.

FAT cat bankers were last night forced to kiss goodbye to their “obscene” bonus ­culture as part of the Govern­ment’s £37billion bail-out package.
After asking the taxpayer for help, some of Britain’s biggest banks will be forced to overhaul the way they reward senior staff.Chancellor Alistair Darling announced that no bonuses would be paid this year at the Royal Bank of Scotland, Lloyds TSB and HBOS, which were effectively nationalised in the unprecedented deal.

Its not the governments bailout package its the tax payers bail out package! And WE should be taking a much tougher line with the wankers who brought the whole house of cards down.

After all this is OUR money the govt has none! and the banks happily paid out £17 Billion in bonus last year, that is around 50% of the amount we are being asked to fork out. We say let them pay back their bonus's BEFORE we put in a penny!

After all Sir Fred Goodwin refused to appologise for his banks crash, he knows how an admission of failure would affect his chances of getting a new fat cat position in the future. And in any case most of those in the city do not see that he has done anything wrong!

Greed is not good its GREAT (But only for Bankers)

The greed of banks in the USA and Europe is and has always been colossal, their arrogance in demanding that they (Bankers) are the only people qualified to regulate themselves. Yet their desire for profit at any cost has driven the global banking system into a crisis of unprecedented proportions> How? Simple the bankers refused to accept less and started breaking their own checks and balances rules in order to make more profit!

These so called “Banks” (an institution for receiving, lending, exchanging, and safeguarding money) SIC, made profits so huge that individuals were able and encouraged to amass fortunes that resemble the GNP of small nations!

A good example is Dick Fuld of Leman Bros, how anyone on this planet deserves to take out $500m - which was made by putting someone else's capital to work and by taking very few personal risks - is beyond comprehension. No surprise then that everyone is sick of Wall Street.

Yet when they bring the whole house of cards crashing down around them what do they do? Re- invest their own massive fortunes in to the banks that made them for them?

Certainly not, (the first rule of banking is do not risk your own capital!) No they come running to the tax payer demanding protection from our inability to pay! Us the very people they have been extorting money from in the form of £25 a time letters advising us that we are overdrawn to the princely sum of £2, the very people they charged exorbitant interest charges, the small shop keepers they charge a huge fee for banking cash! The list of injustices goes on and on, But politicians are apparently left with no choice but to bail them out to the tune of £280 for every single person on the entire planet! That alone is testimony to banking’s incompetence and its inability and lack of intent to regulate its self.

So what now? Well we can look forward to the biggest insider dealing scam ever perpetrated, Bankers will know when the market is going to move, they will advise the politicians its a good time to sell (Well before the shares reach their best value of course) governments will sell and the bankers will make huge profits, as will no doubt many politicians in the pockets of Bankers. It is illegal it is criminal and it will happen and no one is ever going to be prosecuted yet they will be robbing every single person on the planet of a decent return on their £280 and why? because they are bankers and will come up with a plausible lie.

In summary the bankers made profits from you, they ruined their own markets and you paid off their debits, and now they will make huge profits from buying back their shares at the lowest price possible, and all because the best people to regulate banking are bankers? BOLLOCKS its just a boys club for a load of "Greedy Bankers".

God help anyone retiring in the next couple of years your pension funds will be worth sweet FA.

European Unity Ahhhhhhhhhh

First Ireland, then Germany, now Denmark, Sweden and Austria. One by one, each country has taken steps to restore confidence in its embattled banking sector.

Whether the belt-and-braces guarantee handed to Irish savers, or the somewhat complex partial guarantee Chancellor Angela Merkel is offering to German banking customers, steps have been taken to stem the outflow of money from savers and corporate and institutional investors alike.

But in the UK, there remains largely silence. In spite of the Financial Services Authority moving on Friday to raise the guarantee on private savings from £35,000 per person to £50,000, the move was long awaited, and largely a token one.

As British savers see their cousins over the water in Ireland or in continental Europe moving protected, so the Government must move to reassure savers that the future of the British banking sector is assured.

The latest plan - to invest taxpayer's money in major banks so boosting their balance sheets so as to allow them to begin lending again - is an interesting one.

Not only does it offer a potential solution to the stagnation in the mortgage market, but it will also be viewed as an indirect guarantee of the British banking sector, one that is increasingly needed.

The devil will of course be in the detail, but when Chancellor Alistair Darling takes to his feet in the House of Commons this afternoon, he must do so with conviction.

Saying nothing is not an option. Vocal reassurance will not be enough. Darling must act, (The prat has been acting all along, now is time for him to resign and let someone who knows what they are doing to step in) and do so quickly, before British banks begin to go the way of their continental cousins.

A school is to BAN spelling tests!!!

Whitminster Endowed Church of England Primary School, near Stroud, has decided not to give pupils lists of words to learn by rote as homework.

Headmistress Debbie Marklove said there was a risk that children would feel a "sense of failure" if, having learned the words at home, they were unable to spell them at school the next day.

She wrote to all parents of the 105 children aged between four and 11 at the school to tell them about the change. "You will notice that the children will not be given spelling lists to learn over the week and then be tested in class," she wrote.

"We have taken the decision to stop spellings as homework as it is felt that although children may learn them perfectly at home they are often unable to use them in their daily written work.

"Also many children find this activity unnecessarily distressing.

The problem is particularly prevalent in Pakistani communities, where betrothing offspring to their first cousins is common practice, said Ms Sanghera.

Conservatives would ban sharia courts, says shadow minister
A Conservative government would ban sharia courts and impose a tough crackdown on Islamic extremism, the shadow security minister has said.

Pauline Neville-Jones, a former head of the Joint Intelligence Committee, said: "We are not going to have any status for sharia courts. Absolutely not."

Earlier this month it emerged that the Labour Government had quietly allowed rulings of five sharia courts across Britain to be enforceable through the county courts or High Court.

"We are not going to have any legal recognition of sharia judgments that would withstand appeal to a secular court," she said before the Tory conference in Birmingham

Speaking the day after Dominic Grieve, the shadow home secretary, said Britain had "done something terrible to ourselves" by encouraging multiculturalism, Lady Neville-Jones said that the Conservatives would make the case for more "integration" among all British people, whatever their backgrounds.

She said: "We want unity and opportunity, despite difference, through integration."

She accused the Government of leading the country down the "blind alley of multiculturalism, which has deliberately gone down the road of separation for its own sake."

Lady Neville-Jones said there was also a clear divide between the Tories and Labour on the question of how to deal with the spread of extremism among some young Muslims.

"We will be tough. We will be really tough on the men of violence and those who lead them to violence," she told the Sunday Express. "That's the real gap between us and the Government at the moment."

She explained that a Conservative Government would move to extend the list of banned extremist groups - potentially including Hizb ut-Tahrir, which is regularly accused of anti-Semitism, and Tablighi Jamaat, which is behind plans to build a "mega mosque" (something the Labour govt denied was happening!) near the site of the London Olympics complex in East London.

She also said the Tories would seek to reform the European Convention on Human Rights in order to allow the deportation of preachers who incite violence against Britain.

Speaking in response to Lady Neville-Jones's comments, Inayat Bunglawala, of the Muslim Council of Britain, said: "Sharia courts operate with the blessing of UK law."

He added: "As for banning organisations, we believe in a democracy it is far better to allow all organisations to operate freely, and if individuals happen to break the law then they ought to be prosecuted."

Black Caribbean pupils are being held back by institutional racism in schools, according to a new study.

A report by Warwick University claims that teachers are making assumptions about behavioural problems and therefore compromising black pupils' education.

The Tabernacle School in West London has 45 pupils, the majority of whom are black. The school prides itself on being the kind of environment in which black pupils can excel.

Generally, parents choose to send their children here because they lack confidence in state school teaching standards. The report's author, Dr Steve Strand, claims they should also fear racism and discrimination.

The school has a warm yet disciplined atmosphere. A class consisting of a mere five pupils say poor performance can't solely be blamed on teachers.

Fifteen-year-old Cameron tells me: "There are some kids that just don't want to learn. It's their peer group that's stopping them. They just go around causing mayhem."

Tammy, 14, agrees: "You can't say that all teachers are racist. Some may be but not across the board. It's down to the individual and whether they really want to learn."

There were stereotypes that I have to battle against. There was an assumption that the 'big, black boys' would cause trouble.

Educationalist Tony Sewell thinks not. He said: "I've yet to see research that doesn't ask pointed questions but instead goes into schools and says 'OK - what's wrong'.

The Church of England is to apologise to Charles Darwin for its initial rejection of his theories, nearly 150 years after he published his most famous work.

Sections of Church likely to be dismayed by Darwin move

The Church of England will concede in a statement that it was over-defensive and over-emotional in dismissing Darwin's ideas. It will call "anti-evolutionary fervour" an "indictment" on the Church".

The bold move is certain to dismay sections of the Church that believe in creationism and regard Darwin's views as directly opposed to traditional Christian teaching.

The apology, which has been written by the Rev Dr Malcolm Brown, the Church's director of mission and public affairs, says that Christians, in their response to Darwin's theory of natural selection, repeated the mistakes they made in doubting Galileo's astronomy in the 17th century.

"The statement will read: Charles Darwin: 200 years from your birth, the Church of England owes you an apology for misunderstanding you and, by getting our first reaction wrong, encouraging others to misunderstand you still. We try to practise the old virtues of 'faith seeking understanding' and hope that makes some amends."

Opposition to evolutionary theories is still "a litmus test of faithfulness" for some Christian movements, the Church will admit. It will say that such attitudes owe much to a fear of perceived threats to Christianity.

The comments are included on a Church of England website promoting the views of Charles Darwin to be launched on Monday.

ISLAMIC law has been ushered into Britain by the back door.

Ministers have quietly given Sharia courts power to rule on Muslim civil cases.

These range from divorce and financial disputes to domestic violence. But furious Tories said the step “pandered to Islamic extremists”. MP Philip Davies said: “There can be only one legal system — British law. This will lead to a segregated society.”

Powers of Sharia judges have been sanctioned at five courts in London, Birmingham, Bradford, Manchester and Nuneaton, Warwicks.

Oasis cancel gig as Noel Gallagher fails to recover from fan attack

Oasis have canceled a performance in Canada because guitarist Noel Gallagher needed more time to recover from injuries he sustained when a "fan" attacked him on stage.

This amazing statement confused some in the Smugboard offices for the following reason.

Definition of the word "Fan": An enthusiastic devotee, follower, or admirer of a sport, pastime, celebrity, etc.: a music fan; a great fan of Charlie Chaplin.


Well all we can say is whatever kind of fan he is supposed to be, he clearly is not an Oasis "Fan" is he!

We wonder when journalists will stop using silly expressions such as these?
